A driver and her passenger were thrown from the car when the driver lost control, the California Highway Patrol said.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA — The driver of a Toyota Camry died in a rollover crash Friday night on U.S. Highway 101 south of Healdsburg.
At 8:19 p.m., the coroner’s office was requested at the scene on southbound U.S. 101 just north of the Arata Lane off-ramp north of Windsor, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Shortly before 7:30 p.m., the woman was traveling southbound on the 101 about midway between Healdsburg and Windsor when she lost control toward the center median, then overcorrected to the right and rolled, the CHP said.
Neither she nor her female passenger were wearing seatbelts and were thrown from the car, the highway patrol said.
Multiple drivers stopped to help and emergency medical personnel then arrived, CHP dispatchers reported.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene and the passenger was taken to Providence Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with major injuries.
The right southbound lane was closed north of Arata Lane and a Sigalert was in place for several hours.
